Exploring Dentistry: Inspiring School Visit to JKKN Dental College and Hospital

Field visit day at our JKKN dental college and Hospital, Kumarapalayam! On 04.08.2023, Department of Public Health Dentistry in our institution arranged a field trip for students and staffs from SSM group of schools, Kumarapalayam, had an enriching experience as they explored the world of dentistry. JKKN Dental College, renowned for its dental education and facilities, is an ideal place for children to learn about dentistry, oral health, and the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene. We were honored to have our MD, Shri Ommsharravana Avl, grace the occasion and engage in interactive discussions with our guests. Such visits not only provide students with exposure to real-world scenarios but also foster curiosity and interest in various academic fields. The journey itself becomes a part of the learning experience, as the students observe the surroundings and discuss their expectations for the day. Teachers also engaged them in interactive sessions, providing background information about the dental college and dentistry. The tour took them through all departments and the library, where they learned about dental health and its importance. Here, they receive introductory talks or presentations about dentistry, the dental profession, and the various career opportunities in the field. The interactive presentations often include visuals, videos, and demonstrations, making it engaging and easy for the children to understand complex concepts. Apart from the academic aspect, the field visit also exposes the students to the campus life of a professional educational institution. They see students in their white coats, bustling through the college corridors, giving them a glimpse of the hard work and dedication required in higher education.  Field visit by school children to JKKN Dental College was an enlightening and enjoyable experience. It instills curiosity, promotes learning beyond the classroom, and introduces young minds to the world of dentistry and healthcare. Such initiatives play a vital role in shaping students’ future interests and career choices, while also fostering an understanding of the importance of oral health and overall well-being. It was a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge and create lasting memories!
