JOB SUMMARY
The faculty member will contribute to the academic, clinical, diagnostic, research and institutional activities of JKKN Dental College & Hospital.
The role includes undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical supervision, patient examination and diagnosis, radiological assessment where applicable, student mentoring, research, digital and AI-enabled education, academic administration and continuous quality improvement.
The faculty member is expected to uphold professional ethics, patient safety, academic standards and the educational values of JKKN Institutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teaching & Academic Responsibilities
Conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching through lectures, demonstrations, seminars, case discussions and clinical teaching.
Develop students' competency in patient examination, history taking, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment planning.
Conduct case-based and competency-based learning activities.
Prepare and continuously update teaching-learning materials.
Use digital learning platforms, smart classrooms and appropriate AI-enabled educational tools to enhance student learning.
Participate in academic planning, internal assessments, examinations and curriculum-related activities.
2. Clinical & Diagnostic Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive examination and assessment of patients presenting with oral and maxillofacial conditions.
Develop appropriate clinical diagnoses and differential diagnoses.
Supervise students during clinical postings and patient management.
Guide students in case presentation, clinical reasoning and treatment planning.
Ensure appropriate documentation and maintenance of patient records.
Facilitate referrals and interdisciplinary consultation wherever clinically indicated.
Maintain high standards of patient safety, professional ethics and infection-control practices.
3. Oral Medicine Responsibilities
Provide academic and clinical training in the diagnosis and non-surgical management of relevant oral and maxillofacial conditions.
Guide students in recognizing oral manifestations of systemic diseases and medically compromised patients.
Develop students' competency in patient history, clinical examination and diagnostic decision-making.
Promote evidence-based approaches to oral diagnosis and patient management.
4. Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Responsibilities
Applicable to the extent relevant to the candidate's recognized specialty, role and institutional scope of practice.
Guide students in systematic radiographic examination and interpretation.
Interpret appropriate dental and maxillofacial imaging investigations.
Develop student competency in radiographic anatomy, pathology and diagnostic interpretation.
Support appropriate use of available imaging modalities, including intraoral radiography, panoramic imaging, CBCT and other applicable technologies.
Promote radiation safety, appropriate imaging protocols and quality assurance.
Encourage evidence-based use of diagnostic imaging.
5. Student Mentoring & Development
Mentor students in academic performance, clinical competency and professional development.
Identify learning gaps and provide appropriate academic support.
Encourage high-performing students to participate in advanced learning, research and academic activities.
Guide students in seminars, case presentations, conferences, workshops and academic competitions.
Promote professional communication, ethical behaviour and patient-centred care.
6. Research & Innovation
Undertake research in relevant areas of Oral Medicine, Oral Diagnosis and/or Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, as applicable to the faculty member's specialization.
Guide undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
Encourage research publications, conference presentations and academic collaborations.
Participate in institutional research and innovation initiatives.
Explore appropriate applications of AI and emerging technologies in dental education, diagnosis, imaging and research, while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
7. Digital & AI-Enabled Education
Integrate appropriate digital resources and AI-enabled tools into teaching and learning.
Encourage students to develop digital competencies relevant to modern dental practice.
Use AI responsibly for educational support, research assistance and academic content development.
Ensure that AI-supported outputs are appropriately reviewed and professionally validated before academic or clinical use.
Promote awareness of ethical, professional and patient-data considerations when using technology.
8. Academic Quality & Regulatory Responsibilities
Maintain required academic, clinical and departmental records.
Participate in academic audits and quality-improvement activities.
Support institutional requirements relating to NAAC and applicable statutory/regulatory bodies.
Follow institutional academic policies, SOPs and quality standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching, clinical training and student outcomes.
9. Institutional Responsibilities
Participate in dental camps, community outreach and public oral-health initiatives.
Support institutional events, academic programmes and interdisciplinary activities.
Collaborate with other departments and institutions within JKKN Institutions.
Contribute to institutional development, innovation and student-engagement initiatives.
Uphold the professional image, values and standards of JKKN Dental College & Hospital.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Strong clinical and diagnostic knowledge relevant to the candidate's specialty.
Sound understanding of Oral Medicine and/or Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, as applicable.

The candidate's actual MDS specialty as stated in the recognized degree/certificate must be recorded accurately.
Eligibility for each faculty designation shall be verified separately against the qualification, experience and applicable regulatory/statutory requirements in force at the time of recruitment.
The institution shall not alter, merge or substitute the candidate's recognized specialty title merely because a common JD is being used.
Final shortlisting, designation and appointment shall be subject to verification and approval by the competent academic/administrative authority of JKKN Dental College & Hospital and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
