Job Summary
The Tutor / Junior Resident plays an integral role in providing chairside clinical instruction, managing pre-clinical laboratory sessions, and delivering patient care within the teaching hospital. Working under the guidance of senior faculty (Professors and Readers), the candidate will support undergraduate (BDS) students while actively incorporating AI diagnostic software and modern clinical workflows.
Academic Qualifications & Mandatory Statutory Eligibility
Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from an institution approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
Internship: Successful completion of the 1-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship.
Professional Registration: Must hold a valid and active registration as a Registered Dental Practitioner with the State Dental Council (Dental Council of India).
Statutory Compliance: Qualifications and appointments must align with prevailing DCI norms and affiliating university guidelines for entry-level teaching and clinical resident roles.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Instruction & Patient Care
Demonstrate standard operating procedures across pre-clinical simulation labs (Prosthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, Oral Pathology).
Supervise undergraduate BDS students during clinical OPD postings, ensuring protocol adherence and infection control.
Provide direct diagnostic and basic therapeutic dental care to patients in the hospital OPD under senior supervision.
2. AI & Digital Integration (The JKKN Imperative)
Guide students in utilizing AI-assisted radiograph interpretation and digital image analysis for diagnosis.
Integrate digital dentistry tools, including intraoral scanners, CAD/CAM workflows, and computerized treatment planning software, into chairside teaching.
Utilize generative AI platforms for drafting clinical case studies, developing interactive viva materials, and tracking student learning outcomes.
3. Academic & Administrative Support
Assist senior faculty in conducting practical assessments, viva-voce examinations, and continuous internal evaluations.
Facilitate student participation in interdisciplinary hackathons, project-based learning (PBL) challenges, and bio-convergence initiatives.
Maintain digital dental health records (EMR) and ensure accuracy in patient history documentation.
Required Competencies & Skills
Technical & Clinical Foundations
Pre-Clinical Mentorship: Ability to demonstrate tooth carving, cavity preparation, prosthetics fabrication, and basic surgical techniques.
Diagnostic Accuracy: Competency in oral diagnosis, preliminary radiograph reading, and treatment sequencing.
AI & Digital Capabilities
Digital Dentistry Literacy: Operational comfort with CAD/CAM design, digital impressions, and 3D imaging tools.
AI Diagnostics: Openness to employing algorithmic diagnostic aids for caries detection, periodontal scoring, and cephalometric plotting.
Human-Centric & Operational Skills
Patient Empathy & Counseling: Communicating treatment plans clearly and compassionately to patients.
Time & Batch Management: Efficiently balancing OPD patient flow with student clinical supervision schedules.
Collaborative Aptitude: Working seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams across dental, pharmaceutical, and engineering domains.
Remuneration & Compensation
Salary and allowances will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, aligned with institutional norms. Compensation will not be a limiting factor for candidates possessing strong clinical skills and technological adaptability.
